NHS Senior Leadership Onboarding and Support

Primary Care Network Directors

Primary Care Network Clinical Directors have a key leadership role in the development of strategic plans to improve the quality and effectiveness of primary care services and in partnership working with the wider Integrated Care System to deliver improved population health.

Each PCN clinical director will have their own perspective on the leadership challenge and so no one size of leadership development will fit all.

Clinical directors are also able to access leadership development through their local leadership academy – details can be found on the regional resources central button on the landing page.

Please explore the five themes at the top of the landing page for resources to support you in your new role. In addition there are specific resources on this page which have been developed specifically for the context PCN clinical directors are working in.

Clinical leadership — a framework for action contains resources and case studies to support clinicians into strategic leadership roles, bringing professionally diverse thinking and clinical insight to the delivery of The Long Term Plan. The plan highlights the importance of visible senior clinical leadership in enabling and assuring the delivery of high quality care, both within organisations and in the new system architecture.

Primary Care Networks online platform – a member only virtual community with a discussion forum, events, webinar recordings and PCN Support Development which is the primary resource for clinical directors in developing their own PCN.

NHS Confederation’s PCN Network – keep up to date with policy developments, have your views represented at the highest levels, influence national stakeholders and policymakers, and access support to meet your objectives.
