New Media


NHS organisations have a high profile in their local communities both as providers of healthcare and employers. This means that as a senior leader you are likely to be working with the local press. It also gives  you opportunity to think about how you can use media, including social media and internal communications to signal and evidence the kind of leader you are.

It is a good idea for all executives to engage in formal media training with a trusted supplier to ensure that people are comfortable when speaking to the media.

This article predates the pandemic, during which the NHS successfully used social media for a range of purposes from combatting vaccine hesitancy to signposting new ways of working. However, it contains useful thinking around organisational social media maturity and how leaders might develop and use it.
