ICB collection – Governance, Assurance and understanding the NHS

Governance, Assurance and understanding the NHS

Integrated Care Board (ICB) Collection

This collection of podcasts and webinars support the system of leadership accountability when running an organisation. It explores the behaviours, values and standards that underpin our work as leaders. It also speaks of the principles of evaluation; the significance of evidence and assurance in decision making; and the vital importance of collaboration on the board to drive delivery and improvement.

Corporate governance is the system by which organisations are directed and controlled. Boards are responsible for the governance of their organisations.

Assurance is confidence based on sufficient evidence that internal controls are in place, operating effectively and objectives are being achieved.

The purpose of these resources is to outline relationships and governance in the NHS.

Robust governance enables organisations to understand and manage risk, plan for improvement, and assure the board, stakeholders, and the populations we serve that our organisations are safe and performing well.
