Good governance and the systems and processes which support it, create an open and honest organisational culture led by compassionate and inclusive leaders. In the current systems-focused world, senior leaders and boards will develop ways for good governance to reach and work across systems, supporting staff to deliver high quality safe care to patients and populations.
It is recommended that you keep up to date with developments in how your Integrated Care Systems are working on collaborating and developing accompanying governance.

Brings together the key guidance and models to support effective corporate governance within the NHS

The code supports NHS Trust and NHS foundation trust boards in leading their organisations and making decisions effectively.

The framework describes how the oversight of NHS trusts, foundation trusts and integrated care boards will operate. This supports our ambition for system-led delivery of integrated care in line with the direction of travel set out in the NHS Long Term Plan, and Integrating care: next steps to building strong and effective integrated care systems across England.

A detailed guide to increase the level of understanding of what good governance looks like, raise awareness of the need for continual maintenance of governance infrastructures and provide immediate and practical assistance to NHS provider boards and those who support them as they tackle governance challenges. General governance principles are applicable across boards.
